Mount of Horeb

Horatio Spafford was a successful lawyer in Chicago. In 1871, a major fire destroyed his fortune and his family planned to travel to Europe with his wife and four daughters. He postponed his departure because of an urgent business. His wife and four daughters left the port of New York on November 15, 1873, on a French passenger ship. However, at 2 a.m. on November 22nd, the ship collided with a British ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, killing all four of Spafford's daughters. Only 47 people, including his wife, were rescued from the water.

Spafford went in search of his wife. When Spafford passed through the sea his daughters were submerged in, his faced tremendous suffering. However, after a while, a peace he had never experienced overwhelmed his heart. He wrote the Christian hymn, "It Is Well With My Soul," on the spot. Despite great sorrow and tragedy, the Spaffords moved to Jerusalem in 1881, where they were missionaries to both Muslims and Jews and devoted the rest of their lives to missions.

When Moses was in the most difficult situation, God gave him the covenant of the blood sacrifice and the Ten Commandments on Mt. Horeb. Likewise, when you’re in the midst of troubles and crises, God will prepare the most important answers. On the day when the Israelites were greatly impacted by the Word in the midst of fire and the moment when they grabbed hold of the Word of the Lord and His covenant, they were freed from slavery in Egypt; Satan; and the wilderness. Furthermore, in the wilderness, the blessings of the Tabernacle; the tent of meeting; the tent; the Three Feasts; and the Ark of the Covenant came upon the Israelites.

As the Israelites stood before the Jordan River, God reconfirmed the Word, which had come in the midst of fire, through Moses. In other words, God wanted them to hold onto the covenant and not worry about anything. All you have to do is wait for both the blessings that will be fulfilled and the commemorative answers for the next generation and continue to enjoy faith. You are people of God, who will win even in difficulties!! I pray for you and, I love you, 9/08/2021
