Family Line of The Covenant
When missionaries first arrived in Korea to preach the Gospel, my grandmother, heard the Gospel through a missionary in Sariwon, Hwanghae-do. They took out an idol which was passed on from generation to generation to the yard and set it on fire. She was beaten by the grown-ups of her family to the point where she lost hearing in her right ear for the rest of her life. However, those who persecuted her later believed in Jesus because of her. And, almost all the hardest family decisions were run past her.
My grandmother passed by a Seodang (school) where men would study to fetch some water. She saw the Hangul language that was written on the boards and began to study them one by one. She went home and practiced with charcoal from the kitchen and therefore taught herself.
In ‘40 Years of Korean Christian Women,’ the name of my grandmother Shin-il Oh was written about as the first Korean Sunday school teacher. My grandmother was the one who brought the gospel to her family.
At that time, Rahab’s act of hiding the spies was a resolution to stake her life. She was able to boldly help the evangelists because she knew the blessings of the throne and the blessings that transcended time and space. Rahab said, “I know that the Lord has given you this land,” and praised “the true God of heaven and earth.” Judging from her belief, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Rahab was actually the main figure of the fall of Jericho.
Rahab had such strong assurance to the point of lying in order to save the spies. She even gave them detailed information. Ultimately, as a reward for helping the evangelists, she received the blessing of being recorded in Jesus’ genealogy.
The strength to save the world and age starts from a small covenant. No matter how small your covenant may seem, God will use you if you accurately hold onto it. Thus, the incidents and meetings in your field must go according to the stream of the covenant.
You are people of God, who will hold on to this covenant!! I pray for you and I love you. 2/02/2022
